Babua Island is a small uninhabited island but has a fascinating beauty of its nature and its underwater world. This island is pretty close to Port Jailolo, only takes about 10-15 minutes by speedboat. Babua Island is one of the attractions in West Halmahera, North Maluku province.
The views around Babua Island are Halmahera Island, particularly Jailolo, Ternate Island, and Tidore Island. You can relax in a small hut in this island. There is a small beach in this island with white clean sand which is suitable to play.
Indeed, the most beautiful of Babua is the underwater world which is a haven for diving and snorkeling lovers. The extraordinary beauty can be found under the sea around the island. There are two diving spots in Babua.
NHR 1. NHR is the abbreviation of West Halmahera Regent name, Namto Hui Roba (2007-2016) who discovered the diving spots in Jailolo. The diving is relatively easy, starting from the white sandy shoreline and gradually getting down into the depths. Then you will find a wall after diving to 10 meters. Starting from the wall, slope, until back to wall again, the depth is ranging from 15 to 25 meters.

NHR 6 is known as Jojo Reef. Divers can round the reef at a depth of between 5 meters to 20 meters and includes several sides of Jailolo sea wall. The sea water condition is not always clear on this point, with the visibility of about 15 meters to 20 meters in cloudy weather. However, that condition does not restrict the beauty of the underwater here. You can find soft and hard corals, sea anemones, orangutan crab, nudi branch, and so on.
