Tidore is one of the cities in North Maluku province, which has been famous since colonial era because of its cloves and nutmegs. The first Europeans which came to Tidore are Spanish sailors in 1512. Tidore also became a struggle by the Portuguese and the Dutch. This city is wealth of historical and cultural heritage along with its marine which is very attractive for tourism.

Failonga Island is an

8. Luku Cileng Waterfall
This waterfall is located in Golili VillageKalaodi Sub-district, East Tidore District. Cileng means cold. This location is quite difficult to reach. You can go to the village by motorcycle, but the conditions of the road is poor. It is not suggested to carry two people on a motorcycle. Luku Cileng waterfall has its own beauty. The rate of flow of this waterfall is frequently changed, depending on the season.

9. Goheba Waterfall
This waterfall is located on hills in Kalaodi Sub-district, Tidore District. This site is crossed by a river flow surrounded by beautiful rocks and green trees along with melodious birdsongs. The access to this place is quite good. The mileage is about 1 hour from Port Rum, Tidore by using motorcycle or car.

Culinary Tour

Culinary tour in Tidore is somewhat similar to Ternate typical foodSome restaurants of Tidore Specialties which quite famous can be found as below:

*RM Waroeng Alriska 
It is located on Jalan A. Yani, in front of Kantor Dinas Perindagkop dan UKM Tidore building. In this restaurant, you can find some dishes with ingredients like fish, eggplants, coconut milk banana, etc. In addition, there is also papeda (sago).

*RM Ratu Sayang
This restaurant is located at the seaside, in Soasio City. There are also some tables behind the house. It is better to pick the table behind the house because you can enjoy the scenery of  the sea and Halmahera Island. The food like Gohu Ikan, Papeda, and other dishes such as grilled fish with sambal dabu-dabu, bananas and stewed cassavas, pisang coe (stewed of mashed banana with coconut milk and flour). Gohu ikan is quite like Japanese sashimi, which is raw fish splashing with hot coconut oil. Papeda is made of sago or cassava that looks like glue and served with yellowed fish soup, vegetables and so on. The way to take papeda is unique, using one chopstick in the right hand and the other one in the left hand then roll and pull it.

The typical foods of Tidore which are different from other North Maluku areas are Tidore layer cake, bilolo cake, mam raha, tela gule dan uge ake.

Souvenirs

Tourists can buy typical souvenirs of Tidore, such as: batik Tidore, handicrafts,  and typical Tidore food and beverages.

Accomodation

There is only one hotel in Tidore, namely Hotel Seroja with affordable room of a twin bed and air-conditioning. If you search for the cheaper one, there are also no air-con room (with fan). The hotel is located 30 minutes from Port Rum.

Besides, there is a guest house owned by the goverment of Tidore Islands.

Transportation

Tidore does not have airport. Thus, for you who come from outside North Maluku province, first you have to fly to Sultan Babullah Airport in Ternate Island. There are some direct flights from Jakarta, Makassar, Ambon and Manado. 

From the airport, you have to go to Port Bastiong for about 20 minutes by vehicles. From the port, there are two sea transportations heading to Port Rum in Tidore i.e. ferry and speedboat. Tidore Island is close, by speedboat it only takes 10 minutes.

There are some public transportations in Tidore such as mikrolet (mini van), becak motor/bentor (motor pedicab), and ojek (motorcycle). Or, you can rent a car which can be found in Port Rum.
