Besides visiting natural and historical attractions in Ternate, North Maluku province, it does not complete without enjoying its specialties. North Maluku has a variety of regional specialties such as popeda (sago), sayur lilin, walnut sambal, es kacang brenebon (iced red bean), pisang lumpur (fried banana with sauce), fofoki (eggplant cooked with coconut milk), ketam kenari (terrestrial hermit crab), pisang mulu bebe (typical kind of banana in North Maluku), halua kenari (walnut nougat), bagea (walnut cookies) and some fish dishes such as ikan fufu (smoked fish), gohu ikan, ikan garu rica, and others.

Restoran Floridas is located on a cliff which directly adjacent to great scenery sea and Maitara Island which is depicted on Indonesian 1,000 Rupiah banknotes. In addition, it also has Tidore Island and Halmahera Island as the background. You can enjoy the view from the restaurant�s balcony. For those who love natural landscapes, it is recommended to come between morning till afternoon because the sea will show the gradation of dark green and blue.
The food in Floridas is quite standard. One of the favorite food here is ketam kenari dish (terrestrial hermit crab) and grilled fish.
2. Rumah Makan Popeda GamalamaLocation: Pasar Bahari Berkesan Ternate
Rumah Makan Popeda Gamalama serves Ternate specialties, like gohu ikan (raw tuna dish with typical sauce). The pronunciation of this food name must be complete, because if we just say "gohu", the meaning becomes green papaya rujak (salad) which is also famous in Ternate. Because of its resemblance to Japanese sashimi, so people often call gohu ikan as Ternate sashimi.
This place is always being the target of tourists when visiting Ternate. Some dishes which frequently ordered are gohu ikan which is famous for its delicious taste, sayur lilin (young sugarcane cooked in coconut milk), popeda accompanied by soru soup and ikan asar (smoked fish with spicy and sour sauce). In addition, there is also kasbi (stewed cassava), stewed banana, stewed parsnip, grilled fish, fried fish, fofoki (eggplant) with coconut milk, and sayur garo (saut�ed water spinach and papaya flowers).

This restaurant is serves sayur garo with a mixture of papaya flowers and cassava leaves. In addition, there is also kasbi (thinly sliced cassava cooked with some spices until dry. It tasted savory and spicy. They also have any other foods such as fish and fried foods.
4. Rumah Makan Al HikmahLocation: Jl. AIS Nasution, Ternate
Open Hour: 06:00 - 15:00 local time
This restaurant only has two menus: Nasi Kuning (yellowed rice) and Lontong Sayur (rice cake with vegetable and coconut milk). Nasi kuning is served with dried kasbi (cassava), serundeng (fish floss), fried noodles, and slices of pickled cucumber. Meanwhile, Lontong Sayur is served with coconut milk soup, shredded dried cassava and serundeng.
However, they also have some selection of side dishes such as, roasted chicken with soy sauce, boiled eggs, and the most typical, smoked ikan tongkol (skipjack tuna). It is said that this fish is cooked on a wood furnace for a long time, until it is slightly dry and shaped like blackish brown timber.

Rumah Makan Islam Manado Baghdad is well known as Warung Baghdad. It is a small warung serving typical Manado cuisine and always crowded with visitors.
The menus served are quite varied, such as: Ikan Woku Belanga (snapper) with the taste of savory and spicy served with sliced tomatoes and balakama leaves (basil). In addition, there is also fish cooked in coconut milk soup with strong fragrant of balakama leaves. Cumi Woku (Squid dish) cooked in black squid ink and some spices. The aroma of lemon grass and lime leaves which actually used to reduce the fishy smell of the squid, can also increase appetite. There also available shrimp, paniki (bat meat), and others. Those menus are cooked with some ways, such as baked, fried, rica (spicy), kuah asam (sour soup), fried with flour, paniki and others. You can also order Es Gula Aren (Iced Palm Sugar).
6. Kawasan Tapak / SweringLocation: Jl. Tapak, Ternate.
Kawasan Tapak is also known as �Swering� (sewiring which is usually called by local people). This area is always crowded with local people and migrants, especially at night.
Rows of plastic chairs arranged lined up along the beach. There are no food stalls visible, only chairs. But when you sit down there, a waiter will approach you and ask for your order.
This is the uniqueness of Kawasan Tapak. The food stalls is lined across the street. While the chairs for visitors, is located on the shoreline so you can peacefully enjoy the shade of Ternate beach at night.
Some foods like fried noodles, soup noodles, fried rice, fried mulu bebe bananas, gurakka (you can add condensed milk if you like) can be ordered in this place. Mulu bebe bananas is a type of typical banana of North Maluku. One not-too-ripe banana is cut into two or three parts and fried. It tasted crisp, not too sweet, and tasted like fried breadfruit. Uniquely, this banana is served with unusual condiment, sambal tore. Sambal tore is a Ternate typical sambal, mixed with shredded salted fish, roasted peanuts or anchovy.
7. Jatiland Mall Ternate
Jatiland Mall Ternate is the only mall in Ternate right now. The eating places inside the mall are quite crowded at mealtimes. Because of the strategic location of this mall, several restaurants face directly to the ocean. Ternate typical food can only be found in the food court, on top floor of this mal.
